Well, we made it safe and sound to Costa Rica. It was a pretty uneventful, although long day! Cristy and Al picked me up at 11:30 and we headed to the airport. Our plane left Moline on time and we actually got to Dallas 15 minutes early. We met up with all the kids and had some lunch and then got on our plane to CR. It was not on time! We left about 50 minutes late. By the time we landed and got through customs, it was 10:00. We met our guide, Ricardo, (CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!) at the airport and got on a shuttle bus and got to our hotel by 10:30. We are in downtown San Jose. It is late on a Sunday night, but it all looks pretty bleak and scary to me. Every single building is really locked up tight. Not just bars on the windows, but big slider metal things that lock. I saw a few homeless people just sleeping in the middle of the sidewalk. Our hotel is pretty nice. When we finally arrived the boys were hungry, and the restaurant in our hotel was closed, so we walked a couple blocks to a Clarion hotel and got some food there. I just had a couple beers, and a bite of Patrick's lasagna. I don't remember what it kind of beer it was, it began with a "P", but it was a Costa Rican beer and it was actually pretty good. It was very good that we had Ricardo with us because not one waiter spoke English and the entire menu was in Espanol! Oh, and it was an Italian restaurant. Dinner cost us 37,378 which comes out to about $75 American dollars. The exchange rate is 500 colons to $1 us dollar. I would say that we are pretty lucky to be Americans!!
I am watching ESPN right now and all commercials are of course in Spanish, but at least Baseball Tonight is in English!
We are meeting at 8:30, so I better get to bed. We are heading to La Fortuna tomorrow, about 2 hours away. We will not do any work tomorrow, just basically an orientation day.
I miss my Bunny already!! XOXOXOXO
Love to you all,
Jeano
Post from Brian:
That was breakfast?!?!?! What in the world are they thinking. For the one time that I actually want breakfast I am given a couple pieces of fruit and a piece of toast and a half. And the sleeping arangements were quite interesting. As we walked into the room we saw a "double" and a single bed, there were 3 of us and we had to decide what to do. It started off with Patrick sleeping on the floor then me sharing a bed with Patrick and then finally Xander and I deciding to share a bed cause we have done it plenty of times already. So now we are going on a 20,000 hour bus ride to some where and we want some freaking breakfast. Oh and the rooms were hot and I made Xander start reading a book, One Shot for the win.
